I think the technology is a long way away from being a practical replacement to a vehicle powered by gas. The article you linked to also points out some environmental concerns that I don't think a lot of people even think about--electric cars sound environmentally friendly after all. I'm more used to seeing articles that point out the short comings in top mph, total distance the vehicle can travel, time it takes to recharge, and expense the vehicle/parts.

Are there any kind of "gas" stations for electric cars? Somewhere to stop and plug in while on a trip?

I'd be convenient to have an internet cafe to wait in while recharging. They should have some green shops set up.
